Witchy and Magic Themed Book Recommendations – 2026

My favorite genre of books to read is Fantasy, but if I had to get more specific, my absolute favorite types of books are ones about witches or magic. Maybe it’s a magical world or realm, or it’s a story following a young witch coming into their powers, whatever it may be, I’ll read it! Below you’ll find my running list of Witch or Magic based books that piqued my interest this year. Keep in mind, not all books came out in 2026, but happened to be something I read or discovered this year and wanted to share.

You can check out last year’s Fall/Witch Book recommendations here. More books will be added below as I read!

Willow & Wisp Potter Shop by Jackie Vest

Meet Ally and her group of friends who live on Carmel-By-The-Sea, a quaint coastal town that happens to be home many witches. In this book, we follow Ally’s life, learn about the loss of her late husband, and fall in love with her two cat familiars and her pottery business. One day her protective wards on her business failed, but who could have done such a thing? Through a magical journey, and cozy witch vibes, you’ll fall in love with the town, Ally and her “coven” of witch friends, and enjoy her journey to finding love again.

Magical Mornings Café by Jackie Vest

Another book in the Carmel-By-The-Sea series, this second book follows another fellow witch in town, as she faces challenges, her fears, and the opportunity to open herself up for love. If you liked the first book in the series, you’ll want to continue the story. Different witch, cute pup familiar, a vet, and a group of witch friends. I was fortunate to receive an ARC of this book, and I can’t wait for the next 4 books in the series that follow the rest of the “coven.”

A Snap of Magic, A Snap of Secrets, and A Snap of Fate by Danielle Keil

I had the opportunity to meet Danielle Keil at BookCon in New York City this year. It was my first time going to a BookCon, and I was excited to hear there was an Indie Alley section, where you could meet Indie Authors. I spotted Danielle’s booth out of the corner of my eye and the title and book cover caught my eye. As I said, if you write about witches or magic, and your book cover has that front and center, I’ll stop and look.

The book she was selling was actually a combo of all three stories or books in one. It was such a fun tale, with the main character learning she has powers and is actually a witch. Her best friend ends up being a witch hunter, which complicates things quite a bit. A story of magic, adventure, and family, I absolutely loved this book, or should I say three books. I really hope there’s more coming in the series because I could not put these stories down.

The Faraway Inn by Sarah Beth Durst

If you loved the Spellshop, you need to read the Faraway Inn. This book is a different world, a different storyline, but the magic that Sarah writes with is just as strong and beautiful. This is a cozy fantasy tale about an Inn in Vermont, a young girl with a broken heart, and a new friend who needs help. You’ll dive into new worlds in this book, literally, and meet characters that will make you smile. From magical animals, plants, and an Inn, this story packs a big punch of magical vibes.
